Super short depth of field - dramatic use of space
Digital effects: foreshortening. Real and unreal photographic space.
The use of a limited area of focus, with other areas slipping severely into blur, has the effect of suggesting something slightly surreal or unreal, as though what is in fact actual, real space is perhaps a model, shot with a macro lens. This technique can be used to add drama and surprise to photographs of outdoor architectural space, interiors, townscapes, crowd scenes etc. and/or to draw attention to key features within the photograph.
